Information people choose to submit
SpamPath collects information users deliberately submit about unwanted calls and texts. Depending on a report, that can include displayed or destination numbers, message wording, screenshots, dates and times, URLs, callback numbers, notes, and account or contact information associated with the submission.
Only submit details that are relevant to what happened. A destination number can identify the person who received a call or text, so it is privacy-sensitive.
Reports and recurring details
Individual reports remain distinct records. For research, recurring identifiers may be compared across reports, such as a displayed number, callback number, domain, URL, or repeated phrase.
A matching number, carrier, domain, URL, or phrase does not by itself establish that two contacts came from the same person, company, or operation. SpamPath does not automatically attribute a call or text based on those matches.
Called-party and destination numbers are privacy-sensitive. They are not meant to become public cross-case identifiers.
How research is described
Research findings should keep four things distinct:
- Observed information: what a person submitted or directly saw.
- Sourced research: information linked to an identified public source.
- Inference: a possible explanation drawn from observations or sources.
- Unresolved questions: points the available information does not establish.
A public-record source may be attached to a related investigative relationship with its source information so a reviewer can assess where it came from.
When information is handed off
Where applicable, information may be organized as an investigative blueprint for an appropriate attorney, regulator, carrier, compliance team, or investigator.
The recipient independently decides whether additional records, authentication, discovery, preservation, or legal process is appropriate. A handoff does not establish identity, responsibility, or a legal claim.
Questions about privacy
This page explains the product at a high level. It does not promise anonymity, absolute confidentiality, a particular security outcome, or a deletion schedule. The public site does not currently list a privacy contact address; the direct contact mechanism is pending.
